Teachers’ Bios

1. Jasbinder Singh (Jas or Mr. Singh)

Jas is the owner of The 3rd Street Yoga Center. As described in the Introductory section of this website , he practiced yoga while in college in India and used it to gain focus quickly with breath work and to relieve physical stress after participating in various sports. He also brings extensive teaching and presentation skills, honed during his consulting experience, to Yoga.

After receiving his 200 hrs. certification last year, Jas decided that the practice of yoga needs to be made consistent with numerous practices promoted by other professions. For example, the Cleveland Clinic suggests that people in all age groups should do stretching 3 to 4 times a day! Further, they suggest that people should start stretching as early as possible and not wait until they are old. Accordingly, he has created the following two classes:

Stretching 1

and

Stretching 2

Similarly, the literature on Physical Therapy suggests that people should do specific exercises to stretch and strengthen certain muscle groups. For instance, the use of Clam Shell is recommended for strengthening the Glutes Medius muscle. Jas has already evaluated and included several recommended changes in his classes.
